Monday is our Halloween Celebration day! We are going to have a busy and fun day!
We have a Halloween Dance and Halloween activities throughout the day. We will also be having a Halloween party. Please feel free to bring snacks. We have a shellfish and strawberry allergy in my classroom. Please refrain from bringing those. As always, nut or peanut products are not allowed.
Costumes: Students' costumes cannot have fake blood, weapons, or full face masks. The costumes cannot be gory or too scary. If there are smaller masks (e.g. eye mask for Batman), you will not be allowed to wear them during class time. Face painting is fine. It is up to you if you want your child to wear the costume for the whole day. They will be having normal nutrition breaks and classroom activities.
I cannot wait to see everyone's costumes!!!

Dear Families,
We will be going to the Library on November 8th.
We are providing the
opportunity for your child to obtain their own library card when they visit the library.
In order for this to happen you must
fill out the form and return it
to the school by November 2nd. Thank you very much in advance. I have sent a hard copy home, but here is a digital copy too.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. We will be starting Social Studies this week.
Grade 2s: You will be getting a first name and last name form to fill out about your origin of your names. This note and the pages will also be going home tomorrow.
Grade 1s: A special letter with some questions will be going home this week or early next week. Look for it. :)

Dear Families,
We are learning about the origins of our names. Please help
your child fill out the following two pages about his/her first name and last
name. Here are a couple of websites to help you http://www.parentscanada.com/baby-name-finder/search.aspx
and www.behindthename.com. We will
be looking at these websites in class too! Please return the pages by Thursday,
October 13th.
Thank you for your support!

Welcome to Ms. Crowley’s Grade 1/2 class. I am so happy you
are here! I am looking forward to all the learning we will have this year.
Some Reminders:
*Please bring $5 dollars in to cover the agenda costs. Thank you to those who have done that already.
As mentioned, we can earn coins for various things doing the school day (e.g. following our rules, doing our best work, going that extra mile, and other things). Then at the end of the month, the students can cash in their coins for prizes. Here are some additional ways to earn extra coins and improve our skills.
*Please initial your child's agenda everyday and support him/her in bringing it back to school. Your child will earn a coin for that. This will help foster responsibility for your child.
*Home Book Bags will go home at the end of every week. Please read these books with your child and get your child to read to you. You will need to initial the papers provided and return them by the following end of the week. If you do, your child will earn another coin.
*Math Grid Duo-Tangs will be going home this week. Your child should complete a minimum of 2 grids for homework. If completed, he/she will earn a coin. Please return this by the end of the next week. Grade 1s will get 2 minutes to complete what number comes next and Grade 2s will get 5 minutes to complete the addition grid.
*Shared Reading Duo-Tangs will be going home at the end of each week or every other week depending on the time we have had for working on the shared reading. Read the poem with your child and initial the page. Return it by the end of the week. This can also allow your child to earn another coin.
*Spelling homework will be going home this week. There will be a little activity to do everyday in the week. Bring completed homework at the end of the week to earn a coin.

Dear Families,
Goldirocks
is coming! Thank you to everyone who has already submitted their forms. If you haven't already, please remember to submit your permission form and the 15 dollars.
This event is not to be missed. It ties into our narrative and fairy tales
units. We will be making connections between the book and this stage production
in class too. We want all students to attend this exciting show. If you have
any concerns, comments, or questions, please let me know. It is an expectation that
all primary students in Grade 1-3 attend.
Thank you,
Ms. Crowley
